Peer Review Process
IJTHM follows a strict double-blind peer review process to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity. All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through our designated submission platform. Prior to submission, authors are expected to carefully review and comply with the journal’s submission guidelines, including the absolute removal of all author names and institutional affiliations to preserve complete anonymity throughout the evaluation.
Timeline
Initial Decision: 20 – 30 days of reviewer assignment
The entire process (review, revision, and formal approval) may take up to 6 months.
Reviewers
At least 2 experts per manuscript
Reviewers are carefully selected to avoid conflicts of interest while keeping identities strictly confidential.
1. Initial Screening
Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial screening to determine whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s aims, scope, and quality expectations. This includes a strict evaluation of originality, relevance, structure, and adherence to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be desk rejected at this stage without proceeding to full peer review.
2. Reviewer Selection
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two peer reviewers with appropriate expertise in the subject area. Reviewers are selected carefully to avoid any conflicts of interest. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain completely confidential.
3. Manuscript Review & Evaluation
Reviewers receive an anonymized manuscript and evaluate its content, methodology, quality, and relevance. They then assess the manuscript's strengths, weaknesses, originality, and clarity. Each reviewer submits a detailed report with constructive comments and a recommendation, which will fall into one of the following categories: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
4. Editorial Decision Letter & Revisions
The Editor-in-Chief combines the comprehensive feedback from multiple reviewers into a single decision letter. Based on this collective input, they issue the final verdict (to accept, request revisions, or reject), which is promptly communicated to the corresponding author.
If revisions are requested, authors are required to resubmit a revised version addressing all reviewers' comments point by point within the specified timeline (preferably maintained within the same email thread). For papers requiring major revisions, the manuscript may undergo an additional round of peer review.
5. Final Decision & Publication
Once accepted, manuscripts proceed directly to the production stage for professional copy-editing, proofreading, and layout formatting prior to publication. Finalized articles are then formally archived, indexed across global research databases, and promoted through appropriate scholarly distribution channels.
